Instruments
Instrument choices:
All modalities have the potential to reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone,
rebalance sodium/potassium levels and lower blood pressure and heart rate.
Our autonomic nervous system relaxes, and this allows for relief from physical pain,
stress and related symptoms. It brings emotional and mental clarity working on all
levels of being – mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.
Treatments will comprise of 2 or 3 of the following, depending on the need of the
client/group:
Himalayan Bowls
Himalayan Bowls create beautiful tones rich in harmonics and have been described
as warm, nurturing and offering a “sonic cuddle”.
For a 1-2-1 treatment they can be used both on and off the body, offering a
wonderfully relaxing sonic massage. Remaining clothed, these sonic vibrations help
you to relax and can relieve muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, back and legs.
Off the body treatments allow you to enter a deep state of relaxation whilst you are
washed sonically with rich, earthy tones.
Crystal Bowls
The pure tones of crystal bowls encourage a deep state of relaxation and have been
described as pure, clear, ethereal and peaceful. Creating musical intervals when
played together can help transformation and release.
Gong
The most ancient of instruments, the Gong has been described as rich, relaxing,
powerful, expansive and dynamic. Gong therapy can be both nurturing and gentle
and also powerful and physical depending on the needs of the client.
Drum Therapy and Drum Massage
Described as grounding, primal, warm and stabilising, Drum therapy is deeply
relaxing and can help ease muscle tension. The ancient and sacred practice of
Shamanic drum journeying has been used by many cultures around the world as a
way of creating a deep level of relaxation (also known as Altered State of
Consciousness). In this deeper state you have the potential to find clarity, inspiration and insight, reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone, rebalance sodium/potassium
levels and lower blood pressure and heart rate.
Holistic Voice
I will use various vocal techniques – toning (singing one tone) and over toning
(where more than one tone is sung simultaneously) to create a deep sense of
relaxation similar to deep meditation. Words used to describe the voice include
warm, nurturing, safety and primal.
Therapeutic Percussion
At the end of a Sound Therapy session a selection of gentle therapeutic percussive
instruments such as Rainsticks, Koshi Chimes and Shakers further enhances the
therapeutic journey and helps people come back to a normal state of awareness and
“back to the space”.
